Storyd Group supports female storytellers by investing in internationally targeted feature films from Australian female creatives.
With decades of combined experience in technology companies, content production and distribution, Storyd brings together Deanne Weir and Olivia Humphrey’s business insights, capital and entrepreneurial flair, with Michele Turnure-Salleo's expertise in developing stories for the global market.
We work with filmmakers and investors to find new audiences and drive innovation in storytelling and finance models. We support a robust Australian independent film sector that competes on a global stage.


Deanne Weir
Co-Founder and Director
Deanne Weir is a former media lawyer and executive turned producer, investor and company director. She is passionate about storytelling, change-making and gender equality. Deanne is Chair of Ai-Media, an ASX listed global provider of speech to text services, and Seer Data & Analytics, a technology start-up driving better decision making using data and insights. Deanne has held board and advisory roles within investee companies across the screen, music, publishing and technology industries.
A board member of Screen Australia for eight years until 2016, Deanne was instrumental in the development of its Gender Matters program and remains a member of its Gender Matters Taskforce. Deanne is also Chair of the Sydney Film Festival and For Film’s Sake, a screen related advocacy organisation that runs the Attagirl global film lab.
Deanne’s previous film investments include I USED TO BE NORMAL, BABYTEETH, MISS FISHER & THE CRYPT OF TEARS, I AM WOMAN and BLAZE.
Olivia Humphrey
Co-Founder and Director
Olivia Humphrey spent many years in media distribution, working for Roadshow Entertainment, BBC Worldwide and Austar before founding Kanopy, a global indie film streaming platform for academic and public libraries. Kanopy was sold to the US private equity firm KKR in 2021, securing the platform as one of Australia’s great media/tech success stories. Olivia was awarded the 2020 Advance Award for Education, which recognises the work of remarkable Australians making an extraordinary impact on the global stage.
Previously serving as the Entrepreneur in Residence at Curtin University, she is now the Adjunct Professor for Entrepreneurship.


Michele Turnure-Salleo
Development Producer
Michele was Founder and Head of the San Francisco Film Society’s Filmmaker360 (now SF Film) where she provided more than US$5 million in funding to support filmmakers such as Maryam Keshavarz, Chloe Zhao, Ryan Coogler and Benh Zeitlin.
Alongside her role as Development Producer at Storyd, she serves as Principal/Producer at Feracious Entertainment. Recent Executive Producer/Co-Executive Producer credits include BLUEBACK (TIFF 2022/Sundance 2023), FAREWELL AMOR (Sundance 2020), BEFORE YOU KNOW IT (Sundance 2019), THE SOUND OF SILENCE (Sundance 2019), and BUOYANCY (Berlinale 2019) which won Best Indie Film at The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards. Ms Turnure-Salleo has also worked internationally as a script editor and a development mentor for Biennale College Cinema, Vic Screen’s Originate and Attagirl global lab amongst others.
